Available for new projects

I don't just build the brief. I help shape the bet.

I'm Walid Kabboussa, a software engineer who plugs into teams like a technical co-founder. I question assumptions, clarify the product, protect the scope, and own the path from rough idea to reliable launch. Code is the medium. A product people need is the point.

Thoughts & writing

Notes from the trenches

Long-form writing about engineering, product, and the gap in between.

What I do

How I plug into a team

Four ways I show up on a project. Combine them as needed.

Product engineering

End-to-end ownership from spec to shipped: clean APIs, considered UI, and the small product calls in between.

1function shipFeature() {
2const spec = readPRD()
3const cost = estimate(spec)
4if (cost > business.value(spec)) {
5return pushBack()
6}
7return build(spec)
8}

System design

Modular architectures sized for the next 24 months, not the next demo.

AI & automation

Agentic workflows, MCP integrations, and background automations wired into real product surfaces.

Rapid prototyping

From sketch to working artifact in days. Useful for de-risking bets early.

About me

Engineer first,
product partner always

From product decisions to production systems

I'm Walid Kabboussa, a software engineer who builds dependable web products and AI-enabled tools from interface to infrastructure. Based in Agadir, Morocco, I collaborate remotely with teams across Europe and North America.

My work spans multi-tenant SaaS, marketplaces, internal platforms, and AI integrations. I turn ambiguous requirements into clear product decisions, maintainable architecture, and software people can confidently use.

At SkyVaults, I build digital products for clients across industries using React, Next.js, NestJS, PostgreSQL, and cloud infrastructure. I work across the full delivery cycle, including product discovery, API design, polished interfaces, deployment pipelines, and production operations.

I value clear communication, thoughtful scope, and reliable delivery. The goal is not simply to ship more software, but to build the right system well and leave it easier to evolve. I'm currently open to select side projects and focused engagements.

Some doubts

Frequently asked

Quick answers to the questions I get most.

Have more questions or want to start collaborating?

I usually reply within a day. The faster you tell me what you're trying to ship, the faster I can tell you whether I'm the right person for it.

  • Are you available for new work?
    I'm currently full-time at SkyVaults, but selectively open to side projects and short freelance engagements where the scope is well-defined. The fastest path is an email with a one-paragraph summary of what you're trying to ship.
  • How do you price freelance work?
    Fixed fee for scoped projects; weekly rate for ongoing engagements. I share a written proposal with milestones before any contract is signed, and I won't take on work I don't believe will pay for itself.
  • What's your tech stack?
    Python,TypeScript, React, Next.js, NestJS, Node, PostgreSQL, and Prisma or TypeORM are home. Comfortable with Docker, BullMQ, and Redis for background work. Also building AI automations, agentic workflows, and MCP integrations alongside core product work.
  • What matters most to you in a working relationship?
    Trust and continuity, more than the size of any single project. I'd rather build a long-term relationship one where we keep taking on bigger problems together as the vision sharpens than deliver once and disappear. When we're aligned on what we're trying to build, I'm in for the long game.
  • Where are you based?
    Agadir, Morocco. Work is fully remote - daily overlap with EU and US-East hours, and I'm happy to bend the schedule when a launch calls for it.
